Canaan Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities through sustainable education, health, therapy, and outreach programs. We support children with special needs in Honduras by providing access to therapy, education, and essential resources, while also serving seniors in Southeast Texas through compassionate programs that reduce isolation and bring connection, dignity, and hope to their homes and retirement communities.

Faces of Canaan Foundation
Rossy Lopez
Rosa Lopez is the Founder and President of the Canaan Foundation in Honduras, inspired by her leadership at Canaan Christian Academy in San Pedro Sula. With nearly 20 years in education, she is dedicated to inclusive learning for children with special needs, especially autism. Through advocacy, teacher training, and family support, Rosa promotes environments where every child is accepted and valued. Her vision is to create a fully equipped educational and therapeutic center where autistic and neurotypical children can learn and grow together, proving that inclusion, empathy, and community can transform lives.
Diana Thompson
Diana is the CEO, a Co-Founder, and the Vice President of the nonprofit. She has over 14 years of experience as a mission trip coordinator, project manager, and founder of schools and nonprofit initiatives. She is also a former nurse and teacher who has collaborated with churches as well as various national and international nonprofits and ministries, dedicating her life to service and community impact.
Neal Thompson
Neal is a Co-Founder and official incorporator of the Canaan Foundation. With a background in kinesiology and experience working with children with special needs, he brings both professional expertise and a compassionate, altruistic approach. His dedication to serving others and his willingness to help make him an integral part of the foundation’s mission.
Leonel Berreondo
Leonel Berreondo is the Secretary of the Canaan Foundation. He is the proud father of a 9-year-old girl with autism who currently attends Canaan Christian Academy in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, under the inclusion program. Committed to making a meaningful impact, he has volunteered to support the Foundation in achieving its goals and improving the lives of all the children in the program, as well as those who will benefit from future projects.
Ofelia (Raquel) Mejia
Raquel is the Treasurer of Canaan Foundation. She is the mother of a 9-year-old child with autism who currently attends Canaan Christian Academy in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, under the inclusion program. Inspired by the organization’s vision, she has embraced the mission to help create better opportunities for our little ones and to raise awareness and empathy for them—and for anyone in need of support.
